Plymouth/Holtec Initiate (Pine Hills) Master Planning Effort
Separate yet simultaneous to the town’s Master Plan efforts, Plymouth has also begun Master Planning (with Holtec representatives) the Pilgrim 1600 Acre Area Plan, a vision for the future of the Pilgrim Power Station Site and its surroundings.
Plymouth Starts (Pine Hills) Planning
Earlier this month, the Town of Plymouth and Holtec International issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to develop a Master Plan for the 1500± acre Holtec Property. This is an exciting step in the town’s effort to proactively engage in the planning of this site.
Plymouth Master Planning
Last week Plymouth kicked off its public planning process to renew Plymouth’s vision for the future and create a new master plan. The town wide master plan establishes a long-range policy framework that will guide decision-making and budgeting. And although the town doesn’t currently own the property, this will include planning for the Holtec parcel (aka The Pine Hills Area Trail System).
Great Turnout at the April SE Mass NEMBA Meeting
Sorry for the late post. Was experiencing some technical difficulties. Really enjoyed meeting about 40 riders who participated in this spring’s SEMBA meeting at Mayflower Brewing. Heard from a number of the SEMBA officers and enjoyed some great beer and pizza. Fantastic to see the chapter growing.
BID Plymouth Supports PHATS
The PHATS concept aligns perfectly with BID-Plymouth’s desire to positively impact the health of Plymouth and its surrounding communities. Equally, it is the type of community investment that helps attract new talented staff to the hospital. This shared vision of enhancing the health and wellbeing of those in the community while attracting economic development is the reason that BID Plymouth is in support of the PHATs concept.
Select Board reaches out to Holtec
The Plymouth Select Board officially requested a “Willing Seller” letter from Holtec International to allow the Fiscal Year 2024 Forest Legacy Grant application process to begin.
Plymouth Select Board Supports PHATS!
The Plymouth Select Board unanimously supported the Forestry Legacy Grant submission request intended to purchase the property currently owned by Holtec and include the PHATS concept in their ongoing Holtec negotiations.
Select Board Meeting Tue. Feb 15
The Plymouth Select Board has invited us back to further discussions on Tuesday, February 15th regarding the Forestry Land Grant/PHATS Concept. We are scheduled for 7:30 pm but I would hop on a little early as that is an estimated time.
Mass Audubon supports PHATS
Mass Audubon is writing to express our strong support that the Holtec non-NRC licensed parcels should be protected forever for conservation and recreational purposes. The land owned by Holtec represents one of the most important unprotected tracts of contiguous coastal pine barrens forest in Massachusetts. Pine barrens are a globally rare ecosystem and habitat for numerous rare plants and wildlife.
The New England Mountain Bike Association Supports PHATS
NEMBA is a regional organization of mountain bikers with 10 chapters in Massachusetts. Our mission is to promote responsible mountain biking and to protect and preserve New England trails and open spaces. Plymouth falls within our SEMass chapter. Both regionally and locally we endorse the PHATS concept.
